Photo of a manuscript being edited.I am in the process of looking for an editor for my novel Falling From The Moon. This is a bit like online speed dating. The editor I chose will help me polish the novel. I’ve talked to a few editors at this point and they all seem to have strengths and weaknesses. Yet I am emotionally torn between fear that someone will harm my baby and excitement about moving closer to sending my baby out into the world.

How do I chose the person that will reveal the alleged brilliance of my writing without muting my voice?

What happens if my editor and I find ourselves mutually incompatible and without a way to resolve our differences?

After working on a novel for more than a decade, how to I find that editor whose style compliments my writing and phrasing?

Today I am picking one editor among many. Like a first date, I am exploring how this will work and hope that once we get a bit closer I don’t find out that my editor is in debt to the IRS, has a gambling problem, and leaves dirty socks on the living room floor.

Wish me luck!
